An Evening at the Bazaar!
Inspired by eclectic marketplaces of Africa, the Middle East, Asia and everywhere in between, An Evening at the Bazaar will be the main event fundraiser for the special Habitat Women Build project that starts in September.
This event will be held Saturday evening, August 29th at a private residence located at 30 Beaver Lane in Pinehurst. This private home offers a more intimate setting for this event, which offers a chance to escape to the exotic marketplace.
This event will feature a silent auction, Chinese auction and live music. Businesses from all over Moore County have donated everything from pottery to furniture. An Evening at the Bazaar is evocative of the rich tones and luxurious feel of an evening at a Moroccan marketplace right here in Pinehurst. Stroll through the garden, savor a glass of wine, enjoy the live music and peruse the eclectic mix of antique and modern wares. There are goods that will satisfy the most discriminating of tastes and the smallest of budgets. No passports required! Everyone is welcome.
The event will start at 4:00pm with beverages and light hors d’oeuvres around the pool. Restaurants and caterers all over Moore County have donated their culinary talents, including Rhett’s, Goldy’s Gourmet, Forest Creek, Sweet Feed and Laurie Rich Catering! Beer and wine will be provided for a nominal cost. The Wine Cellar of Southern Pines has provided the wine for this event.
Guests will be encouraged to bid on the numerous silent auction items until 6:00pm when the auction will close. The Chinese auction winners will be drawn starting at 6:30pm. Both auctions will feature an array of items from businesses from all over Moore County, too many to list! To top off the evening, the beautiful “Women Bloom” quilt created by Ellene Place will be raffled off at 6:45pm. Guests will also be able to get their photo taken with fun props like African drums and Middle Eastern robes.
Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes 5 Chinese auction tickets per person. Additional Chinese auction tickets will be available for $2 each. If you are interested in attending the 2009 An Evening at the Bazaar, please call the Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills office at 910.295.1934.

Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills launches its third Women Build this year. 2009 is the latest - and for sure not the last, Women Build. Previously women built a home in 2001 and 1994. Some of those who have participated in the other two builds will come out again and build. Welcome Back, veteran Women Builders!
